To regulars and those passing through, Southington once seemed plagued by the warm beer of sports bars and the cold coffee of 24-hour diners, with the sweet salvation of the fruits of the vine nowhere in sight.
Then came the wine bar at Cava Restaurant.
Cava offers a fine restaurant in the front and a fully-stocked wine bar with a separate entrance in the rear. It would be easy simply to pass this newcomer by, as it sits on the busy Route 229 that's also home to Lake Compounce amusement park and the ESPN sports network. But with a growing reputation for offering delicious wines at the right price, Cava is slowly climbing the ranks as a hot spot on the thriving Southington dining scene.
