The Federal (as most of the regulars call it) is one of downtown Hartford's oldest watering holes—unpretentious atmosphere, neighborly crowd. It may not be big on glamour, and it looks sort of like a setting for a prohibition era mob movie, but what it lacks in style and glitz the Federal more than makes up for in fun. Watch one of the 10 TVs, drink $2 domestic beers and play pool. There's no food served, but help yourself to free peanuts in the shell.
