This inauspicious deli on the north end of State Street is a sanctuary of simple, yet wholesome and filling, food. Prepared and served by Fred and Patty Walker and their staff for 20 years, the inexpensive entrees range from toasted tri-colored orzo pilaf to chick pea artichoke salad, and the cheese selection and homemade desserts are prominently displayed. Takeout orders are made with ease, though Chesnut also has about a half dozen tables for dining in.
