Farrell's is practically an institution in Portland. Opened in 1991 by Art and Mary Ellen Hetrick, the restaurant is known for its hand-carved prime rib, fresh seafood, veal and chicken dishes, signature salads, kids menu's and homemade soups, making it a favorite destination for many for that mid-week family meal. But by far the biggest draw at Farrell's is the old-fashioned steamed cheeseburgers, a half-pound burger smothered in cheddar cheese and loaded down with the works. Dining rooms -- and there are several of them -- are cozy and intimate, featuring wood beams jutting down from the ceiling.
