Don’t let the name fool you—the grub at this laid-back barbecue pit packs plenty of big, bold taste. So it should be no surprise that the joint has been a favorite on the Vernon dining scene since first opening its doors in 1990. Little Mark's slow-smokes all ribs and meats for six hours daily (except the brisket and the pulled pork, those smoke in their own juices for more than twelve hours). It also makes all its sauces, dressings and marinades from scratch and even handcrafts all its own desserts. And this is probably one of the few places in Connecticut with alligator on the menu—a true Southern menu item.
