Before Billy Grant opened his eponymous restaurant on Farmington Avenue, there was Bricco on LaSalle Road, where his talented, passionate take on Italian cuisine has been enchanting diners for years. A wall of bricks at the entry yields a window onto the open kitchen inside this mod establishment with understated pale yellow and gray decor. Bricco’s is pretty much jammed day and night by regulars who crave the cedar-planked salmon with mustard barbecue sauce, tuna crusted with fennel and black peppercorns, wood-oven roasted free-range chicken with thyme jus and grilled black angus strip steak with red wine-veal jus. Risotto is a menu mainstay as well, as are pastas and pizza. Homemade desserts are so tantalizing that most simply choose the dessert sampler for two.
