Sarapes

When done well, Mexican may be the perfect cuisine. It refreshes in the summer, warms in the winter, and leaves you full and content, when accompanied by a cold beer, basically all year round. In Enfield, Mexican food buffs have something to cheer for: Sarapes, a small, no-frills eatery that serves homey, authentic Mexican cuisine. Sadly, however, the lack of a liquor license means that diners must forego that cold beer. The menu, though brief, is pleasing, with such offerings as mole poblano chicken, cecina enchiladas (seasoned grilled pork with rice and beans and a generous pile of homemade tortillas), and puerco en pipian (boneless chunks of steamed pork in pumpkin seed sauce).
