Located in a building that dates back to 1840, Hitchin' Post itself is a relatively new addition to the Connecticut shoreline scene (it opened in December of 2005), but already the place has garnered a reputation for having one of the liveliest, rowdiest nightlife scenes in the area -- just about any night of the week. Live local bands on Friday and Saturday nights only add to the fun. A high, wood-beamed ceiling that showcases a florescent lighting design overhead is meant to resemble the night sky.
