I recently dined at Alfrescos Restaurant and found it to be a very delicious experience. The food was incredible and the presentation was something out of a gourmet magazine! I had the homemade spinach and ricotta ravioli. The portions were huge and priced great! There was a great selection of soup. This is a place that i will visit again and again and I highly recommend to others.

My fiance and I went here twice after buying gift certificates from one of those half off promotions. The portions were very different each time we went. Some of the side dishes needed to be seasoned more. The desserts were alright. I'd say it was a little over priced if we didn't have the certificate deal.

Starting with bread that is baked in house and ending with pumpkin gelato, biscotti and espresso, me and four other Italians ate our way through a seven course experience. We have all had meals at nice restaurants but when was the last time you actually enjoyed the food so much that it became the topic of the night? Our waiter was very friendly, attentive and was able to suggest a perfect wine to complement our meal. All of us were more than satisfied and would highly recommend dining at Papacelle.

I love this brew pub! The nachos are amazing especially if you add garlic and their home made cilantro sour cream! yum yum ! The beer is amazing and the servers are grate! It is so cool that it is in an old post office and their bar is so long. I had the vodca rose penne and my boyfriend had the garlic walnut chicken so so yummy! we will be going back very soon!

We rediscovered this place recently and have been back a half dozen times since. First thing you notice is the place smells great when you walk in the door. Thats a huge plus in my book. It gets you in the mood to do some serious eating!! And this place will dish out the goods. Really good meatballs and a decent sauce. The little loaf of homemade bread they toss you, totally rocks! Fluffy inside, crispy outside, just the right amount of chew. Big yum factor there. My favorite is on Wednesdays when they offer their rendition of macaroni and cheese! Wow is that stuff good! Multi cheeses, ritz crumbs on top like grandma used to do, baked to stringy cheese perfection! Good luck finishing the big portion they give you. If your a mac and cheese aficianado, this is a must try! I think these guys should offer it on the daily menu as opposed to just a Wednesday special. Prices are affordable, the decor is easy on the eyes. The wait staff is happy to see you and eager to please. Their pizza is pretty good ( they know crust) One of those places that always has people eating in there so. Go for it!

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet, especially considering it is easily my favorite steak house in the area. We always start with the Tortilla soup. Bacon, and avocado, and, crispy chips.... you can't go wrong. After the Pozole my local Mexican stop makes, this is my second favorite soup. Albeit the price is high, the quality is justified. I've never had a bad steak here. If you've had a bad one, you just didn't know how to order it. You'd be ruining it if you order it any other way than medium-rare. This is one of the only places I've been that can properly prepare a steak this way. Also, if you've never had a steak with Bearnaise sauce, this is where you will fall in love with it. which steak would I recommend, well, I've had them all and they are all really good. It's more a matter of how much you want to spend. The wine list is outstanding. I hate going to a nice restaurant and seeing garbage on the list. The folks in charge here clearly put in the effort necessary to make good recommendations. If you don't know what you're doing the waitstaff is very educated about pairings as well, making the whole experience a hard one to mess up. I can't reiterate that all of the wines on the list are delicious... all of them... regardless of price. We always save room for dessert, too. Tuile cannolis with creme anglaise or apple cobbler, we have yet to experiment and find a bad dessert. What can I say... It's my favorite for a reason.

stephaniejarm wrote about Kelly's Pub & Steakhouse

I just visited Kelly's Pub yesterday(10.25.09) to get the tour. A friend of mine had found the diamond in the rough and has visions of helping the venue get back to its roots and bring some life in it again. There aren't many places like that left; our society is overrun by chain restaurants and walmart. If the community can come together and support Kelly's Pub...we could have a real gem to add to Manchester's historical charm. Yes, the owner might be a little stubborn, but her determination to keep it open in honor of her husband is a real "tug on your heart-strings story." She needs gentle persuasion, but Kelly's Pub could be great with a little old fashion, good neighbor team work.

Garthless wrote about The Cosmic Omelet

Recently driven away from our usual breakfast stop by inordinately horrible waitresses, we stumbled, quite happily, into this manchester spot, tucked away in the back corner of a run down looking parking lot. Unusual omelet combos abound!! Are you adventurous? This is hwere you shold get your eggs. Admittedly, when I go back I'm probably going to order the biscuits and gravy because they were my favorite at our last place, but my omelet was delicious. The only bad thing I can say is that on the weekends there will be a chaotic line going out the door. I wouldn't let that deter me, though. It is well worth the wait.

I moved to waterbury last year and took me a few months to find places i liked, and now the hills one of my best spots. It's on the public golf course and looks unsuspecting from the outside, but once you get inside it's great. big menu, big portions, stiff drinks. reasonable prices for the area for what you get. great spot to bring a date. if the weather is nice, ask to sit on the patio. not snobby at all, casual, nice crowd, no riffraff like some other waterbury spots.

Although we did not have a reservation, the hostess was very accommodating and was able to seat us at a lovely table o. I started our meal off with a bottle of Chianti from their very extensive wine list. Our server, was very knowledgeable of everything on the menu and after telling us the specials and giving a few suggestions, we finally settled on The portions were more than enough and everything was cooked to absolute perfection.

Martha wrote about Grant's

We were really pleased with this restaurant, and regret not trying it sooner. Everything was made to order, and everything was made from scratch. It was absolutely delicious. And the restaurant itself is incredibly charming. Just a wonderful place, with great food, and great prices.

Walked in a waited for 2 mintues, no sign to say seat your self or wait. several staff saw us and said nothing. We seat our selves. We were seen sitting and asked why. Waitreess comes and bring us the "free potatoe chips". they were over cooked in oil, awful. She asked what we want to drink. I said I dont know what you have, she says what do you want, I asked do you have German beer, she said "I dont know". Then she looked at me. I said, can you check, she comes back and says not German beer. We had water. She comes back with the water and says what do "we" want. We said, we dont have a menu. Got the menu and ordered burgers, 2 orders, and had to repeat it twice. One order came back with the wrong cheese and we asked for med Well, we got well. Fries were over cooked and oily. Asked for a pitcher of water, it arrived when the burgers, couldnt eat the fries, when the burgers were done. Would not eat at Humphreys again. Over cooked, oily, and other.

My wife and I dine at Assaggio every Saturday night. We love the place, but I never reviewed any restaurant until my grandson encouraged me to do so. We talk about Assaggio for days after our dinner! If the crab sauce is on the menu, I highly recommend it. The flavor is just like the flavor of my late mother’s Christmas Eve sauce, but better because they have crab meat already picked out and piled on top. My wife is always on a diet so she asks for chicken francaise over spinach made with very little oil. They are great there about giving you what you want. The servers are all wonderful kids. They really cater to us. Even the busboys don’t miss a beat. We are thrilled to be able to go to such a quality high end restaurant with reasonable prices. We highly recommend Assaggio.

Garthless wrote about Restaurant Bricco

If you go here or to the owners other restaurant around the corner (Grant's) be sure to save room for dessert. Everything is amazing. We split a smoked salmon on cream cheese pizza which was delightful, and gorged oursleves on a sharing plate for dessert. I would go here all the time if I made just a littel more money. As it stands, I'll save this spot for special occasions.

I have been to Masala 3 times and each time with another couple, everyone has always loved it. I did not think of myself as an Indian food lover until i ate at Masala, it may just be that i love Masala more specifically. We have had appetizers, Naan - different kinds, and entrees and all have been wonderful! The service has always been great too! My only concern is that all 3 times i have been there the restaurant is far from full, even at prime time on the weekends. I am worried they won't survive, so please try it and pass it on. We are going again this weekend and I can't wait.

Pat06095 wrote about David Burke Prime

The day we went to the "gourmet" prime rib brunch, it was pathetic. On the "pastry table", there were what seemed to be scones, cut in half, some other things resembling muffins, cut in half, and "Wonder bread". No rolls, no bagels, nor pastries were on the table. I didn't eat any of the items, but my friend said the bread was stale. The food in the chaffing dishes was not hot. What was there was certainly not what I would call gourmet quality. The prime rib seemed to be left over from the night before. The fatty taste had seeped into the meat. It was over-cooked and dry. The omelets were good, however. The pasta bar had pasta of dubious freshness. It too looked left over from a previous meal. In all fairness, the management did give me a full refund when I called to complain. But I would be hard pressed to return for a second meal.

Real butter, real maple syrup, biscuits and gravy, smoked salmon, beef wellington (at dinner Friday & Saturday only). Many vegetarian and gluten free options with local and organic ingredients. All with free internet access and you can choose the music playing overhead. The prices are reasonable and the portions are large. This is my favorite place to be. Even comfortable couches to read a book (complimentary library) or watch the tube. Try the soups made fresh daily or the bargain of soup & half sandwich for only $6. Please visit often so this place stays around. And write a Metromix review to get the word out!

We've been fans of the Brio Tuscan Grille at the Waterside Shops at Pelican Bay in Naples, Florida, for several years, so we were thrilled to see that one would open at Westfarms Mall in West Hartford, Connecticut. The new location at Westfarms lives up to the one at Waterside. The chain decor, menu and service all carried over perfectly. In fact, our server revealed that, coincidentally, the staff at Westfarms was trained by the staff at Waterside. We highly recommend this restaurant for a consistently good atmosphere, terrific food and terrific service. And don't forget to try the brunch on the weekends.

katesin commented on Rich wood floors and comfy couches

Great location, beautiful decor and comfy couches. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and seemed like he would have liked to be more available if he was able. The appetizer menu was lovely and I really liked the food served. BUT, the music was awful. (think Night at the Roxbury) which had many of us doing the head bounce. The cheese plate was on a slate way too small. The cheese was buried under the bread and we had to dig to get to it. Most alarming was the obviously watered down drinks. When I asked the waiter to bring my next drink with less ice he returned with a drink so full of ice that it was mounded over the top of the glass. He looked embarrassed and apologized when he gave it to me. I spoke to the manager who brought me a much improved version. We decided to switch to wine and were sad to see the tiny servings. The bill was $200 for 4 of us. I will give it one more try, I want Cuvee to succeed. We'll see what happens.
